I am always working on projects, either to sell or give away as gifts. I like to keep my hands busy. I learned how to crochet when I was 8 years old. My aunt taught me how to crochet in one weekend. I grew up seeing all of the wonderful things she made and was excited to be able to create something like she did. I think the first project I made was a pot holder. I made some things for my Barbie dolls and tried many different patterns. I’ve never really liked doing circle patterns. I made pigtail ribbons and hair clips. Over time, I wanted to make pretty things that I knew I would use. My favorites are baby blankets and afghans.
My aunt is absolutely amazing! She is one of my heros! My aunt started to go blind when she was about 8 years old. By her 30’s she couldn’t see anything at all. Her blindness never stopped her from doing the things she wanted to do! My aunt has ridden a tandem bike, wonderful cook and baker, crochets, knits, has done macrame, ceramics, computer skills, played the piano, raised 4 energetic boys, taught many youth groups, served on the board of a Credit Union, lobbied for the rights of the handicapped, and so much more! She is truly an inspiration!
I loved the crocheted stuffed animals she would give me for birthdays and Christmas! I need to do a post on those! I prefer to make baby blankets and afghans. Here are the ones I currently have completed.
