As a blogger I am always looking for what works. Pinterest is a great platform for sharing my blog and it’s analytics help to know how things are going. To do this, you need a business account on Pinterest where you can keep track of your pins.

Top Performing Pins in 2019 from Shannon’s Grotto

For each pin I will talk about the elements of the pin and why it may have performed well. Some pins take time to perform well. I have some that are 3 years or older that are now performing well. Not all pins that are in the top performing pins are high in clicks or saves.

#1 Performing Pin

While this pin was #1 for performance, it was #2 for link clicks and my #1 most saved pin.

• Longer than it is wide. Pinterest images should be rectangle rather than square.
• Vertical (portrait) images as opposed to horizontal or landscape.
• There’s an overlay for the words on the image. Making the lettering stand out.
• 2 different fonts.
• 2 different sizes.
• Offer for a free pattern.
• Reaches a specific audience.

Conclusion

Doing this exercise helped me to see that I have forgotten to put descriptions with some of my pins. Whoops! They tend to perform better when accompanied by an alt description. So, I was able to remedy that mistake.

• Extra info on the pin does well
• People like number lists of things
• Many of my pins that made it to the top had the color red
• There were also many with light colors or nice color contrasts that also did well
